| Welcome
to Howard Community Primary School.
Our
website is intended to give you as much helpful information about our
school as possible. It is not intended as a substitute for personal contact
with you as parents, but as an attempt to answer some questions and also
to celebrate the work of our school, of which we are so proud. Let us
know what you think of this prospectus. How could it be improved?
We
would welcome your active participation in school life, by coming to our
occasional open events, class assemblies, and helping in school, or with
the 'Friends' if you have the time.

Suffolk
County Council is responsible for admissions to the school. Full details
of Suffolk's admissions policy and procedures are set out in the 'Schools
in Suffolk' booklet.
Pre
School Visits
We like the children to be familiar with the school and their teacher
before beginning full time education. We therefore organise a series of
pre-school visits in the term before the children are due to start school.
The
School Day
The school day runs from 9:00am until 12:15pm and 1:15pm until 3:15pm.
It is helpful if the children arrive punctually, but the teachers are
not legally responsible for the children before 8:50am. The children all
have a short break in the morning and the younger ones have a playtime
in the afternoon too. During a normal school week the Foundation and Key
Stage 1 children (age 4+ to 7) receive 22hr 5m teaching time, and Key
Stage 2 children (age 7 to 9) receive 23hr, excluding registration, break
and lunchtimes. Children who arrive at school after 9:00am must be brought
to the main entrance to be registered.
The
vehicle entrance is for staff cars and service vehicles only. Children
and parents must enter where it is safest, by the small pedestrian gates.
The school is now very secure with the metal fence and automatic doorlocks.
The only entrance is the front door, where our school secretary monitors
everyone who comes in.
